The History of Raynaud

Founded in 1849, the Monjovis factory was built on a hill bearing the same name, alongside eleven other porcelain manufacturers. Under the reign of Napoléon III, the region became famous for its technically complex works.

Martial Raynaud bought Monjovis in 1919. The company soon grew to become Raynaud & Co in 1925, and stated its ambition with this now well-known hallmark: an R with a laurel branch (See top of page).

André Raynaud, who succeeded his father in 1952, brought the many facets of his personality to the company. His influence with artist's such as Dali and Cocteau, brought Raynaud's quality to a new level.

Bertrand Raynaud (pictured) joined the company in 1985 and by 1989 was made General Manager. He developed a new marketing policy and by 1992 Raynaud had joined forces with the famouBertrand Raynauds cutler Ercuis, becoming a notable force in the fine dining industry.

Bringing Raynaud into the 21st century is something which the company has truly embraced. With signature ranges way ahead of their time the collection continues to improve whist never losing sight of its tradition and intrinsic quality.
