The glass factory of Orrefors was founded in 1898, at a site where an iron factory had been operating since 1726. The name of Orrefors most likely originates from the name of the Orranäsa lake, with the Swedish word "fors" added to it, symbolizing the river by which the former iron factory was situated. Nowadays the word represents a well-designed quality glass from the forests of Småland.

Together with its skilful designers Orrefors presents a new collection of glass every spring and autumn.

Orrefors has seven designers working for them - people of creation who have a great responsibility for the development of Orrefors design.  With respect for tradition and the complexity of design to the innovating and creative glass that Orrefors stands for.

Being an artist at Orrefors means a great personal freedom. There are no limitations in the creation of art glass. The skill of the craft is advanced and the knowledge about the material is great. Orrefors produces everything from functional art glass series in clean forms to more sculptural and expressful objects.

Many of the pieces from Orrefors are designed to be loved and appreciated for years to come, you might say they are investment pieces.
